Jenson Button thinks Nico Rosberg will be surprised by Lewis Hamilton ? Formula 1 news

McLaren?s Jenson Button thinks that Lewis Hamilton, who is moving to Mercedes next season, will surprise his new teammate, Nico Rosberg, with his performance.

?I think he'll probably get a bit of a surprise at his speed,? Button said. ?I know he's been his team-mate in the past but I think he'll be surprised at how Lewis can get performance out of a bad car. I think that will be the biggest thing.?

Button also stated that Rosberg is more close to Hamilton than himself as they had been teammates in Karting.

?I think he knows him pretty well,? he added. ?I think Nico knows Lewis better than I do. They've worked together before and I'm sure he knows what to expect [from their working relationship].?

Hamilton and Rosberg were teammates in Karting in 2000. Hamilton has admitted that his future teammate is also his best friend and they have known each other for a long time.

Hamilton announced his transfer to Mercedes in September this past season which came as a shock to the F1 community since the British driver has been with McLaren for a very long time. He has already denied that he has any unsettlement with the team and that he is only moving because he is looking for a fresh challenge. He has said that Mercedes provides perfectly for that as they are in a bad need of winning. The driver has also hinted that he might return to McLaren in future as he considers the team as his home.

Meanwhile, Button is looking forward to becoming the lead driver as Hamilton leaves. He has stated that he is extremely excited about being the driver who will have a major role in making the team win and also that the car will be developed according to his requirements.

Replacing Hamilton is the Sauber F1 driver, Sergio Perez. McLaren?s team principal, Martin Whitmarsh, hired the Mexican after being impressed by his three podium finishes this past season.

The 2012 F1 season saw McLaren continuously dealing with reliability issues. They finished third in the constructors? championship with 82 points behind winners Red Bull Racing.
